Pierre Vinet Bilbo and Frodo-TEASER

Heavens! I almost missed the Baggins Birthday! I am out of town on a family visit and forgot all about it. Happily, jan-u-wine reminded me in time. This is only a re-post, but raise your glasses with me.

I am sure you all know the images from which the manip is made. Pierre Vinet's FOTR publicity stills are as well-known as they are beautiful.

Happy Birthday Bilbo and Frodo!

Lovely birthday post. I'm so thankful to Tolkien for creating the Baggins boys for us to love.

Yes, indeed, many happy returns of the day to them both. I love Vinet's portraits to pieces.

"A stout little fellow with red cheeks"
"this one is taller than some and fairer than most, and he has a cleft in his chin: perky chap with a bright eye"

Gandalf's description of Frodo but it also suits the younger Bilbo very well.

Happy Birthday, Bagginses!
And thanks, Mechtild

I'm glad you enjoyed the post, however brief the post, Ambree. :) :) :)

Happy birthday to the legendary Bilbo Baggins and the beautiful Frodo Baggins!!

As my birthday gift to them, I've started a Lord of the Rings club at my school! The first meeting will be a belated celebration in their honor! I'm so excited! :)

Thank you for your lovely posts! May they and our love for them be as immortal as the elves!

Indeed I have! Sadly, it's not Frodo-centric, but I think I'll have plenty to enjoy while running my own Fellowship! ;)

Thank you for showing Ian Holm as Bilbo. Happy day to both of them! Wish I could join that fan club - but we have our own. :) jan, are you going to do something for the occasion, even belatedly?

Namarie, God bless, Antane :)

Hi, Anatane! I'm still out of town but am reading my emails. You have a fan club there, too? Cool!

I made this manip before there was any Bilbo actor other than Ian Holm, but I still would have used him, if only because Pierre Vinet did not live to take any photos of the Hobbit cast. I just love the photos Vinet took during the making of the trilogy, publicity stills, behind the scenes -- he was excellent. And I deeply love Ian Holm's Bilbo. This is not to say I am not enjoying what Martin Freeman is doing. I think he is an excellent choice to play younger Bilbo. :)

No, I don't have a club there - I meant yours/ours here! :)

Hello! I find your LJ incredibly lovely and interesting, so I just added you to my f-list. Also, thanks for everything you're doing here!

Hmm. I just wrote you a lengthy reply which seems to have gone off into the ether! I just wanted you to know, Kornblumenblau, that I appreciate your warm comment. My emailed notices of comments or postings of friends that come from LJ stopped working almost a year ago so I almost never see comments made to older posts.
