Sigh. I wanted to make a nice big post, Shirebound, fitting to the occasion, but I left it too late. This last week (and the one before it) was so crammed with *stuff* I had to do, I should have started working on a post weeks ago.
*clinks glass with you, raising it high, slopping it a little as would be appropriate at the Green Dragon or Ivy Bush*
*clinks* glass with all of you. Ironic that there aren't words enough (or of enough beauty) to thank JRRT for all that he has meant in our lives. But somehow I imagine him as wanting the reward that good parents wish for, in their heart: that those they have sought to guide give likewise to others, behave with love, dignity and respect.
It's a *happy* charge, that.
thank you, Professor, from one of your simple children.
Tell me about it, Ms. Mechtild. You certainly don't want to be rambling the roads of Hobbiton at 9:30 pm on this night or you're likely to get run over by a run away carriage.
Anne Marie, it's great to toast the Professor with you. :) I am grateful beyond anything that JRRT answered the call of his imagination, in spite of so many other demands from his real life on his time and energy, and went on to create so much beauty for so many.

If not for the esteemed Professor, I would not have met you or all my other LOTR friends! Thank you.
