What better way to celebrate The Birthday than with [manipped] photos by the late, great Pierre Vinet and a new poem from jan-u-wine. Happy Birthday, dear Bilbo and Frodo, our most beloved Bagginses.~*~
Autumn touches the Hill,
frost dancing and sparking
upon turned, dragon's- fire
leaves,
(drifted
tea-honey scent
caught
within the dips and ditches of the road).
It is our Hill,
our Autumn.
Our birth-day.
It is the Party tree,
and fireworks,
perchance,
from old Gandalf,
flowers and dragons
in spires of blue and red,
gold and green.
It is dancing
(haply beneath
the brass
of a cloud-ragged moon),
bitter-warm ale
and dark-sweet Longbottom.
Most of all,
it is the tramp
we shall take
upon the day,
just *us*,
rain-gusted
or sun-shined.
There will be tales
and silences,
sun-dapple trees
and slow-shadowed Thistle Brook.
There will be
just......
us.
And that will be
enough and more:
that will be
all.~*~
