Heavens! I almost missed the Baggins Birthday! I am out of town on a family visit and forgot all about it. Happily, jan-u-wine reminded me in time. This is only a re-post, but raise your glasses with me.

I am sure you all know the images from which the manip is made. Pierre Vinet's FOTR publicity stills are as well-known as they are beautiful.

Thank you for showing Ian Holm as Bilbo. Happy day to both of them! Wish I could join that fan club - but we have our own. :) jan, are you going to do something for the occasion, even belatedly?

Hi, Anatane! I'm still out of town but am reading my emails. You have a fan club there, too? Cool!

I made this manip before there was any Bilbo actor other than Ian Holm, but I still would have used him, if only because Pierre Vinet did not live to take any photos of the Hobbit cast. I just love the photos Vinet took during the making of the trilogy, publicity stills, behind the scenes -- he was excellent. And I deeply love Ian Holm's Bilbo. This is not to say I am not enjoying what Martin Freeman is doing. I think he is an excellent choice to play younger Bilbo. :)
