I think you are definitely right about this. I've seen a very few love scenes that depict the emotional reaction of a man to his lover. I know you said you don't care for "All I Want", but if you watch the all-too-brief love scene with Jane and Jones in the motel, you see his fear and desire and need naked in his face when he's looking at her. Perhaps it's because he's virginal that they shot it that way, but that tiny scene affected me tremendously, as it did a lot of others. There is a scene in "The Terminator" with Linda Hamilton and Michael Biehne, also in a motel, also the man's first experience, that shows some of his emotional response, and I found it compelling in a way that a hundred more explicit scenes in other movies never were.

In "Brokeback Mountain" the love scenes were so well done, though very little was visible; it was their faces that moved my heart, the way they clung so hard to each other, knowing they only had a little time together. The reunion scene was one of the most erotic things I'd ever seen. They were so needy they were almost struggling with each other, unable to hold on tight enough, to kiss deeply enough. I could feel their hearts pounding. Great acting. Great directing. Integrity in moviemaking, the determination to get it right. That's what sets it apart from so much of the other stuff that comes out of Hollywood.

I do look forward to your next set of screencaps.
