Yes, that's what happened. I'd read a few interspecies fics and I liked them, but I kept thinking I wanted to try to bring him together with another of my favorites, Eomer. He's so different from Frodo, and I thought they might have a lot to offer one another, aside from physical attraction, and as I wrote it, it turned out that they each changed the other in ways I hadn't totally foreseen. I really enjoyed the whole process of writing that story.
