I felt so horribly sorry for them both in these scenes. Frodo had been struggling to make his decision, but when Boromir attacked him, he knew he had no other choice but to go before the Ring corrupted all his companions. And Boromir lost his very self here. I know that he would never have attacked someone so much smaller than himself without the influence of that thing clouding his mind.
