~ Detail from Taerie's "Angel Light".
Away with the sauce and fluff of Faun and Bacchante; the time is right to present a piece I saw posted last week in the
journal of fellow LotR- and Frodo-fan, visual artist
![[livejournal.com profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/external/lj-userinfo.gif)
I apologize ahead of time that you will need to use your scroll bar to see all of this, but the full-size version of Taerie's
painting is that wide!
Since Taerie has a locked journal with a limited f-list, it bothered me that almost no one would see her new work.
I have asked her and she has given me permission to post it here.
Angel Light is a "winged Frodo" image, of which I am sure there are many, considering how often Frodo is compared to Eros,
the winged God of love. I've done Art Travesties of Frodo in Bouguereau's "Cupid and Psyche" paintings (who provided his
Cupid with ridiculously small wings), and I've featured the gorgeous scupture group of Canova's "Cupid and Psyche".
I've also gushed in various places over
![[livejournal.com profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/external/lj-userinfo.gif)
based on the myth of Cupid and Psyche (complete with ravishing writing about Frodo-Cupid's wings *swoon*).
I am betting there are Frodo fics and pieces of art based on the myth of Icarus, too, another hero with wings.
Whatever Taerie's inspiration -- Eros, Icarus, angels, or birds -- I think hers is the best "winged Frodo"
I've seen in fan art. See what you think.
Taerie's "Angel Light" reduced to fit on an LJ page:

Because I think Taerie's work doesn't get enough exposure, I also want to post a recent sketch of hers of great charm.
I encouraged her to post in a Frodo thread I visit at K-D, but its readership is small. Perhaps more people who might enjoy it
will see it here.
The sketch below depicts Frodo in the bath. What a look on his face! I am sure I am not the only fan who will be reminded
of at least half a dozen highly-rated fanfics, when she looks at this drawing.
Naughty Taerie!

And, just in case any of you missed it last year, here is a link to the LJ entry presenting Taerie's Frodo of the Shire,
the colour piece that reminded me of ancient Chinese silk paintings.

I particularly love the hands in 'Dangerous When Wet', the way they fade into the water. But then I do love line-art. ^_^
I hope you let her know about all these comments she's receiving.

I don't know the artist, but I think I'll go and have a look, her Frodo is just so gorgeous.

Yes, when I saw this picture on Taerie's LJ, and saw that she didn't even link it in The Harem, I had to put my foot down. Luckily, Taerie was amenable to "a showing." :D

Now if we could just figure out where to put the jumper cables on yours we would be all set!..( but maybe we better not mess with it... yours does SUCH a great job of writing after it has had time to get in the mood.)
Thanks for all the kind words!! You guys are so sweet.

"Why not post this at hobbit_art?", Notabluemaia suggested. And, below, the estimable Estelanui (a Tolkien afficianado and art fan from Italy) has said, "Why not at Middle-earth News?"
See? You should feature these things. Remember, to post at either of these sites, you merely have to follow their formats on their User Info pages (very simple) and post a link. If you don't want to unlock your own LJ posts to link the images there, you can link to my pages where I've hosted your work. My LJ entries, except when they are about family, are always public.

I actually meant to post both places.. I just didn't manage to do it for some reason.
Mechtild you are such a sweetie!! Thanks for offering to host my piccies to the world. Now I just have to figure out how to do this right without mucking it up. I'll go look at the User Info pages. What exactly should I put for a link? Is there a good place to cut and paste it from that it wouldn't end up sending people to the wrong place or something? Am I asking something that makes sense?

For instance, if I go to your LJ and open it to the "Angel Light" post (although you haven't called it that in your actual entry),
if I copy the address in the upper tool bar, called, "Address", it says:
http://taerie.livejournal.com/29123.html
All I did was copy and paste that. It copies into your LJ comment or entry as a live link.
The problem is that your entry is friends-locked, which will not help you in posting it at these two places.
Here is the copy-and-pasted address of this page, on which your pics are being presented. If you click it,
you should get this same page.

Anyone can open this one, since most of my journal is not locked.
If you want to host the pic at your own site (which seems sensible), you could unlock that particular post. If you click "Edit Entry"
for that post, you can scroll down to the bottom after the text box, and there will be a selection box called, "? Security."
Scroll through the choices and click "public." It will change the setting for only that entry.
See if that works.

I was thinking that if I sent people to your page there would be more there for them to see! You have all kinds of great stuff.
I will put it on my page if you would rather. Which would be good?

I have found that many more people look at something, even favourably, than atually comment.
Therefore, it doesn't mean you'll get that many more comments one way or the other.
But I'll bet a lot more people look. People like clicking open visual art;
it's so quick to see whether you like it or not.
The other thing you can do is post the pics right in hobbit_art, as an lj entry there.
Once you have friended the site, you can prepare your LJ entry as usual, but then you can chose
"Post to--" and select hobbit_art.
Here's a link to my "Update Journal" page, which will look just like yours.
http://www.livejournal.com/update.bml
Go to the bottom below the box where you enter the text and on the bottom tool bar thing,
it says "Post to", just to the left of "Update Journal."
You can select the other site from the list, and then it will post to their journal,
not to yours. Just remember to follow their instructions on the User Info page.

I don't mean writing a post and then giving a link to your journal, but actually posting the pic right there
(behind a cut, of course, per their rules). That way the post would truly be your own and you'd get the comments
and the notifications of reply, yet you wouldn't have to change your own journal from private to public.
Whaddaya think?
If I don't respond, Taerie, it's because I've gone away for the weekend. I'm driving away Sat. a.m.,
until Monday afternoon, to see an old friend of mine who lives across the state from me.

Change the [ and ] to < and > and replace URL LINK TO YOUR ART with the address page (not friends-locked) of your drawing; then add the ART TITLE and YOUR USER NAME HERE.

the Winged one is stunning and looks so natural I esp like the white against the color background
and special thanks for the link to the one from last year :) I missed it the first go around, and its wonderful.. the texture is yummy!

I agree. And I love it that she included Frodo's wounds, if quite subtly.
Thanks for stopping by to comment, Goldberry. :)
