Thanks to [livejournal.com profile] antane, over a dozen jan-u-wine poems have been nominated in this year's MEFA's, and I'm finally getting around to making an announcement. This journal has featured more than a hundred of Jan's poems, so you won't be surprised when I say I'm exceedingly pleased. :) All of the nominated poems have appeared in posts here, and a linked list is provided below, if you'd like to re-read any of them in my format.

If you are registered at MEFA, you know all about finding pieces there, and how to vote (votes are reviews, points awarded according to the word count of reviews, not what the reviews actually say). If you've never participated, the MEFA competition offers a great way to enjoy a wide range of Tolkien-based fanfic of all types.

Here is the MEFA home page, if you'd like to check it out:

Voting is now under way and continues until the end of the year. Reviews can be submitted until January 1, 2012.

Have fun!

Dear Julchen, thank you so much! Considering the quality and amount of poetry you read, that is the highest compliment that ever could be paid.

(hope the wedding plans are going apace....)

Julchen, you are so right. Thanks for stopping by to say so!

thank you, dear Mechtild! And, lest you think I'm slacking and sleeping in....I *am* working on a bit of a something.....

over a 100? Really!? And I have to say that many, many of those pieces were ones that were written specifically because of our partnership. They would not have seen day, otherwise. So, thank *you*!

in other, wondrous news, yesterday I was treated to a wonderful concert by an absolutely amazing guitar duo: Rodrigo y Gabriela. I met the artists (the most amazing and sweet couple, last night of their tour, and filled with gentle grace) and (wait for it), was given a beautiful, beautiful guitar, which they both signed. (mine is the 'blonde' variety, as is fitting). And though nothing can still my love for my Gretsch, she is a big lady, round of body and voice. This guitar is a sweet little ode to spring-time.....

They GAVE you a guitar? A real guitar? For goodness sake! What a massively generous gift to give a listener, however appreciative! WOW.

Yes, over a hundred. I counted up the links on my "jan-u-wine's poems on LJ" page, just to be able to say how many for the intro to this post. Amazing, isn't it?

that is amazing...and wonderful. What an honor and pleasure it's been!

the guitar was only a part of what I rec'd: I won a drawing and the prize was a box at the Hollywood Bowl for the concert, backstage passes for a 'meet and greet", and the guitar(which they signed). These were the sweetest, kindest, loveliest people you'd ever want to meet. On top of it all, superbly talented.

And the guitar is beautiful. It was, truly, a night to remember....

All the more was this a wow evening! What a gift, the gift of the concert, the meeting the guitar, and the gift of the experience itself: that you, Jan, were somehow lucky enough - or singled out - to receive such bounty!

guitars are, in a way, my Ring. I have absolutely no talent for them, but am regularly gifted with them and have always had a love and desire for them....they *call* me. And I surely couldn't ever throw them into a fiery pit....truly, it was a wonderful evening...

Thanks for letting us know, Mechtild - and you're right of course, it comes as no surprise that Jan's wonderful poems have been nominated. Many thanks for that link, I will enjoy revisiting them:)

thank you so much, Paulie! In all truth, there should be a stand-alone category for "A Journey With Frodo". You have done such wonderful work!
